Cloudwplus9 Blog Hop Feb. 2013

Cloudwplus9 Feb. 2013

Due to a blizzard this weekend, I was able to get some extra crafty time in! So I decided to play along with the Cloudwplus9 blog hop that's going on. Here is the inspiration photo that we were given this month:

I was inspired by the brown bags (I used burlap instead for some texture) the items popping out of the bags (that's why I used the pocket with the letters and heart popping out) and the patterned background (hence my chevron background). This was a great inspiration photo and was fun to create the card :) The stamps are from wplus9, the paper is Studio Calico and My Mind's Eye, the twine is from the Twinery and the burlap is from 7Gypsies.

Cloud 9 Blog Hop January 2013

Cloudwplus9 Blog Hop January 2013

Talk about cutting it close...I actually had to just make a post with a picture so I could get my card in the Linksys before it closed, then come back and do the post! Ahhhh! But I made it :) So the above card is for the January CloudwPlus9 Blog hop.

Here is the picture we were given for inspiration:

I immediately wanted to use Scrabble tiles, and kraft. My Scrabble tiles are from a Fresh Squeezed Stamps set. I used PTI sheet music background, wPlus9 A Pocketfull and Valentine's fillers. The star is an SU punch which I used silver Encore ink to edge. I wanted to make silver stars, but I didn't have any silver paper, so I used kraft silver edged stars instead ;) The silver ribbon is from the dollar bin at Michaels, and the cardstock is all PTI. I'll use this as one of my Valentine's Day cards...I like that it is not the traditional pink and red. Now I would say make sure you join in on this challenge, but there's no more time! Maybe next month I won't be down to the wire ;)

The 12 Kits of Christmas December 2012

Welcome to the last 12 Kits of Christmas post of 2012! I can't believe its here. I have enjoyed this group SO much! Because of it, I got my Christmas cards out in the first week of December this year, and that is a record for me! Usually I'm still working on them on Christmas eve, so they don't get sent out until late. I'm super excited about next year, there will be some changes, and I already have next month's kit containing some of the changes, so make sure to stop by on the last day in January to find out what I'm talking about!

Now, this months kit was sent by Sharron, and boy oh boy did I love it! In fact, I made the most cards that I've made out of any month...a total of 8!

And here are the 8 cards I made...a great start to my stash for 2013!

Oh my I had so much fun with this kit! I loved that it had both whimsical and non cutsey stuff in it. The papers were bright and fun, and I really loved that sparkly paper that the snow drifts were cut from! Here is what Sharron sent:

Stamps from Cas-ual Fridays, Lawn Fawn, PTI, and Wplus9
Cardstock from PTI, Stampin' Up, and WPlus9
Patterned Paper from Bo Bunny, Cosmo Cricket, and Sharron's LSS
Dies/Punches: Impression Obsession, Lifestyle Crafts, Memory Box, MFT, PTI, WPlus9, and Marvy
Embossing Folders: Sizzix/Hero Arts
Embellishments: Darcie, PTI, National Nonwovens, Paper Studio, and Recollections
Inks: Stampin Up and Memento

Now, let's go see what my other fellow "12 Kitters" made!

Cloudwplus9 Blog Hop November 2012

Cloud wplus9 Blog Hop Nov. 2012

Back with another entry to the Cloud wPlus9 Blog Hop! Here is the photo we were given as inspiration this month:

I still only have the one wPlus9 set, but I was determined to make it work :) I mostly had to go along with the colors of the photo, and then I found some MME paper with a pattern (reminds me of a quilt pattern) in those exact colors. Add a red wheelbarrow, a sentiment in green, a turquoise ribbon, and bam! My card ;)

So I know I've been absent this week. Oh boy do I have a LOT going on with work and my women's group that I'm the president of. I just had a big ceremony and lunch for the Veteran's at work today, and I'm pooped. I have tomorrow off for working today, and I'd love to relax, but projects for the Chelmsford Women of Today call! I've got something going on every night this week except Friday. But I'm determined to make some cards tomorrow, too, so that my blog isn't empty all week.

Cloudwplus9 Blog Hop October 2012

Cloudwplus9 October 2012 Blog Hop

Time for this month's Wplus9 blog hop! Here is the inspiration photo we were given this month:

I only have one wplus9 set, but I was determined to make it work, and I think I did! Instead of a door, I used my window die and shutters. I went with the orange and black pumpkins, and then the black with white polka dots as the background (that's from My Mind's Eye), and then I used my PTI alphabet dies to make the "boo" that you see on the side on the door. The twine is from the Twinery and the cardstock from PTI. You should join in on the blog hop! You have a few days, so definitely check it out, here.

Cloud Wplus9 Blog Hop

IMG_6589

For some reason, I can't get this pic any bigger. Suzanne is coming over tomorrow, though, so I may have to pick her brain! Anyway, here is my card for this month's Wplus9 blog hop. I actually used my own Wplus9 stamp set this time! Here is the inspiration photo that we were given to work with:

The tree is from My Favorite Things, the "hills" from PTI. The twine is from The Twinery, the cardstock PTI. The label punch from SU. There is a new challenge every month, so grab your wplus9 stamps and play along for a chance to win!

Retro Sketches #26

I finally own my very own wplus9 set! I just couldn't resist this scarecrow set when it came out :) So now I won't have to borrow Suzanne's stamps all the time for the wplus9 blog hop! Here the card I created for this week's Retro Sketches challenge:

Here is the sketch I used:

So I flipped the sketch on the side. That cool denim ribbon is from SU, the yellow is from Amuse. The frame around the sentiment is from My Favorite Things. The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye. Did you guys know Michaels carries some of their paper now?! I'm super excited about that :)

This scarecrow is the star of the show! I just love him :) And see those bright vivid inks?? My new SU inks that I got for my birthday from Phillip. I LOVE them! If you haven't tried the new formula, you should. 1000x better than the old. Such a crisp, clear image in one light tap. I never used to get this look with the old pads. I'm going to be in a yard sale one of our local stamp stores is having and I'm going to sell all my old inks for $1 or $2 each (what do you think? they are all still really great, juicy, etc.) so hopefully I can replace all of them with the new ones :)

This card comes with a gift! A bottle of wine from my favorite winery up here. So I had to make a tag to go on the bottle.

Using the same elements from the card, of course.

I think they turned out quite cute and country :)

And now an update on my little Garrett. Garrett had surgery last week. He had been peeing a ton, but when he started going on the rugs in the bathroom and then on Phillip's clothes, we knew something was going on. (We clean his litter box twice a day, too!). His pee also had a red tint to it. Well, they found something called a bladder stone. His actual bladder is the size of a pea, and this stone was the size of a golf ball!! Poor little guy :( So he had the surgery and came home in one of these cones:

These pics were right before we took him camping with us. Which was crazy, I do not recommend having a cat with you when you camp. All he did was spew litter everywhere, and walk around on top of us all night "shoveling" our faces with is cone. Well on Tuesday we woke up and his wound was open and bloody. So we took him back to the vet. First they gave him a bigger cone (he had found a way to lick his wound even with the cone on!) and said he HAD to stay still. Well, he won't stay still at all. So the only solution we could come up with is that he is now living in the dog crate :( It is a large one that can hold his water, litter box, and room for him to lay down, but the poor guy. I hope he recovers soon so he can get out of "captivity!"

Cloud 9 August Blog Hop

Okay, this is cutting it really close! I don't think I've ever turned in a card this close to the finish before, but my friend, Suzanne, created this awesome blog hop, and also let me borrow her stamps to play along, so I need to get this card linked up! Without further ado, here it is:

Here is the sketch for this month's hop:

I LOVE sketch challenges, but I don't love this card I made :( I really wish I gave myself more time to change it up. That empty space in the middle is killing me! I guess CAS will never be my style! Although I do like to challenge myself and create them sometimes :) So I used Fresh Picked stamps and dies for this card. The polka dotted washi tape is from Target and the sticker tape underneath is from Pebbles. Jen got a big prize package for being in the top 20 in Gallery Idol and she shared some of it with me! This tape was in there, and I must say I've gotten a lot of use out of it so far :)

That ribbon? Is denim!! Its from SU. I like it a lot. The pearls are from Recollections and the cardstock from PTI.

I think if I had time to doctor it up, I would have had an embossing folder, or maybe another color of cardstock on top of the blue. Oh well, next time I know to give myself more time and not wait until its an hour until close! Off to shower...I have the most exciting day planned! I'm sure you'll be seeing some pictures as it is crafting related :)

Cloud Wplus9 Blog Hop

I am thrilled to be a part of the very first ever Cloud Wplus9 Blog Hop! My friend Suzanne, is the mastermind behind this wonderful new challenge blog to support one of her (if not THE) favorite stamp companies, Wplus9. Now I don't own any of their sets (yet!) but Suzanne is so sweet that she let me borrow a couple of hers. I created this card:

Here is the inspiration photo for this month's blog hop:

Obviously the colors, the backdrop, and the grass skirt were what caught my eye (could you tell?? ;) I decided to make my own "grass skirt." I just scored some cream cardstock and cut up to the score line. I love the three colors of bakers twine tied together, I think they give the card that extra something.

The DSP is an old pack from SU, but I thought the colors and busy pattern were perfect to go along with the photo. The sentiments, hearts, clothespins, and string stamps are all from Wplus9.

My sister in law's grandfather just passed away the other night. I know this is not a traditional sympathy card, but I hope that it will make her smile and let her know that I'm thinking of her. Now are you ready to go check out this awesome new blog?! To add extra excitement...there's even a prize! Click here to see everyone's awesome creations.
