The 12 Kits of Christmas May 2012

This month our kit was created by Joyce...don't you just love this fun twist? It required a tweaked banner which Suzanne easily created for us. (Have no clue what I'm talking about? Check back to our first post in January here, it explains it all :) Joyce sent SO many supplies! Check out a taste of what was in our kit:

Look at all the goodies I was able to create!

And now a closer look. First I'll start with the 3 cards:

Next a wine bottle tag:

A gift tag:

And finally, a gift bag w/tag!

I loved the bright cheery colors we were given to work with, blue and yellow are a great combination! I've actually never made a Hanukkah card in my life, so this was a new (and fun) experience for me :)

Joyce not only sent the supply list, but she sent a little explanation of this holiday which I thought was very interesting, and that I would share it with you. From her note: "Chanukah, also spelled Hanukah or Hanukkah, is not a very important Jewish holiday, but it is a fun one, nevertheless. It celebrates the rededication of the temple in Jerusalem after it was attacked by the Greeks, and is also known as the festival of lights. It is normally celebrated by lighting candles on a Menorah, playing dreidel, and eating latkes (potato pancakes). And, of course, presents. In 2012, Chanukah starts the evening of Saturday, December 8th and ends the evening of Saturday December 16th.

Now for the supplies in the kit:

Retro Sketches #13

Suzanne was sick...of course I want her to get better...and what better of an opportunity to use my Paper Smooches stamp set to create her a card, right? Thanks, Suzanne ;) Get well soon!

I used this week's Retro Sketches sketch:

I used Paper Smooches Healthy Vibes for the stamps. All stamps and sentiments are from this adorable get well themed set. The tag die is from PTI, the border punch is from SU.

The patterned paper is from Lillybee Designs for the chevrons, and the paper for the tag is from a DCWV pack.

The ribbon is from PTI and the twine from the Twinery.

The cardstock is Hawaiian Shores from PTI.

I gave it to Suzanne tonight when she came over for our crafting night and she liked it :) She's on the mend, too!

May 2012 Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

I was not able to participate in last month's blog hop since I was on vacation, and I definitely missed it! Here is my card for the month of May:

This is the inspiration photo that we were given to work with this month:

I took the colors and the patterns into consideration on my card. I used the new On the Farm set and dies, also the Edgers that look like file folders, and twine from the Twinery.

The chicken wire is from Background Basics Farm and Barn.

I thought this sentiment was appropriate since there are "many" animals on the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope that today is the start to a wonderful holiday weekend for you :)

Make It Monday #67

This week's Make It Monday from Papertrey Ink was Mixing Patterned Papers. I haven't played with a MIM in a really long time, but this one was simple, and I wanted to get inky with my new stamps, too! Here's what I created with On the Farm:

The patterned papers are from a DCWV Spring Fling pack, and also PTI's paper pack. I even decided to cut the cow out of gingham...talk about mixing up the patterned papers ;)

The mini clothespin is from my local stamp store, and the gingham ribbon and eyelet border punch are from SU. Everything else on the card is PTI.

Phillip stayed home from work today with a cold, and guess what I came home with?? A sore throat, of course! I'm about to go take some Nyquil and settle down for a deep sleep. I want to be 100% by this weekend for our Memorial Day camping trip with one of my good stamping friends, Gerry and her husband Harold. There will even be a detour to a local stamp store...now THAT's what I call camping ;)

Paper Smooches Sparks: Cool Shades & Retro Sketches #12

You're a Good Egg :)

This card combines the colors from the most recent PS Sparks challenge and the sketch from this week's Retro Sketches.

This card is just fun. I really like the sketch and the colors are bright and cheery.

The Paper Smooches set I used is called Wake Up. The images and sentiment come from this set. The patterned paper and cardstock is all from PTI. The ribbon is from Amuse and the border punch is SU.

Happy Monday to you all...getting closer to our 3 day weekend at the end of this week :)

Retro Sketches #11

I pulled out the cute Jukebox image from my new Paper Smooches Perpetual Bliss set to create this card for the Retro Sketches challenge this week:

Here is the sketch:

I bought this cool paper awhile back at a crafty yard sale. I'm not sure who makes it, but I thought that the colors and words on it went well with the theme. The buttons, banner die, ribbon, and cardstock are all from PTI. The scallop oval punch is from SU.

This will be a good card to keep in my stash for a guy's birthday card. Or basically anyone in my family since they're musicians. Hooray for it being Thursday (although I wish it were Friday!)

Paper Smooches Sparks: Designer Drafts

I just found out one of my friends is expecting her 3rd child, so I went into my craft room to create this card for her:

This card is for the new Paper Smooches Sparks challenge. Find out more info about it here.

So I used the Vegtastic set from Paper Smooches, and the newest Sentiment Set to create this card. Aren't those peas the cutest? She's not having twins (that I know of at least!) but I still think that this pea stamp works for a pregnant mom :)

I colored the peas with Copics. The heart is also from the Vegtastic set.

The twine is from the Twinery, the kraft corduroy button is from SU and the other buttons from PTI.

The scallop on the bottom was cut with the SU scallop punch. The polka dotted notecard itself is from Amuse.

Hope today was the start to a great week for you!

Happy Mother's Day!

I know a LOT of mothers! Each one of them has played a special part in my life. In fact after I made this first batch, I realized that there were several more I just couldn't leave out, I ended up making 19 of these cards! (I still could have made a few more, too). Anyway, here is what I ended up making for Mother's Day cards this year:

The stamps are all from Paper Smooches. The patterned paper is from PTI. So is the cardstock and the ribbon.

For this flower I stamped it on the colored cardstock then added detail with Copics.

The tag that the sentiment is stamped on is from a SU punch.

Here is a look at the first batch :)

I am so lucky to be very close with my own mom, and even though we don't live close to one another, we talk often. She's always the first to know when I'm excited about some crafty thing ;) Also my sister and sister in law are celebrating their first Mother's Days this year. One day I look forward to celebrating this day myself, as well :) To all you Mothers out there, thank you for all you do!
