Amber Ink Project #1

Hi everyone! Here's my first project for my run at Amber Ink :) Isn't that baby deer just darling?

When I saw this deer as one of the digital images on Amber Ink's site, I knew I had to get it, and then the adorable sentiment? In the cart, too :) And the sentiment only cost .50!

See these totally AWESOME flowers? They were handmade by my friend (and torch passer) Suzanne. She actually poured them into molds and made them perfect matches to PTI colors. She also made me a WHOLE bag of them to go along with my b-day gift. Thanks, Suzanne!

I used PTI's Half & Half Die down the middle, I also used the largest SU circle punch and then cut in in half to appear that the circle was very large behind the deer.

Here is a close up of the neat patterned paper I used. Guess what? It's ipaper that I printed right off my computer! Amber Ink has tons of them to choose from and you can't tell that I printed it in the slightest.

This first project was a blast to make. You probably saw a few days ago that I made a manly card with the deer from PTI's Forrest Friends on it and the sentiment said "Thanks for being such a deer." Click here to check it out. Well, I'm actually going to give this card to the wife and the other masculine card to the husband as a thank you for a wonderful day of little birthday surprises that they were both in on...cute, huh? All the supplies are listed above except the pearls which are SU, and the cardstock which is all PTI. The little banner I just made but cutting the ends at an angle.

Well, off to work. We made it through Irene just fine, but yesterday they were working on cutting down some trees and some how cut off our power...all day with no power yesterday left for some pretty kookie seniors. And now we're hearing it won't be on again until FRIDAY at 10pm!! This is going to be a LOOONNNGGG week!

Exciting News! (and a late card)

My great friend, Suzanne, has passed the Amber Ink torch on to me for the month of September, so I actually get to be a member of a Design Team! I'm very excited :) I had a wonderful time poking through all the cute digital images and ipapers that Amber Ink has to offer. It was so hard making a decision on which ones to get! But I did, and I have my first project ready for you for tomorrow, so make sure to check back :) Make sure to go check out Amber Ink for yourself, here!

I will be on the team with 5 other lovely ladies this month: Lucianna, Sanna, Steph, and Teresa. I am just so honored to be able to do this and can't wait to get it going tomorrow!

In the meantime, here is a card that I created for the color throwdown challenge which has a link that says its still available for 15 hours...but I don't think that's right since they already picked the winners! Oh well, I still think that the card turned out nicely:

Don't you just love this new Autumn Acorns set from PTI?? And I used the Houndstooth background, too. Also, my new Harvest gold ribbon and paper that arrived in my most recent package, as well :)

All items on the card are from PTI except the scallop punch and the pearls (can't remember where the brown pearls are from). Off to work! Hope you have a wonderful day :)

Mojo Monday #206

I just got my birthday PTI order in the mail today with this awesome fall paper, so I wanted to get creating right away. I used the above Mojo Monday sketch to create this square 5x5 card for my hubby:

Close up on the great patterned paper and the PTI buttons (compliments of my friend Dana!)

The green is PTI's Simply Chartreuse. The Ribbon is Terracotta Tile (just got it in my package :) The acorn, sentiment, and leaves are from PTI's new Autumn Acorns set. I don't usually use this much patterned paper on my cards, but I'm happy with the results. Make sure to check back tomorrow as I have an exciting announcement to share! (and mom if you're reading this, don't worry, its not that kind of announcement ;)

CPS #233

I took this week's CPS sketch...

And turned it into this!

The sentiment is from PTI's Autumn Acorns, and I thought the font and size worked well with this layout.

The patterned paper is from a 6x6 SU DSP paper pack (retired) that was sent to me by one of my secret sisters in the Splitcoast Stampers Divine Secret Siblings group.

This card is a thank you card to my sister and brother-in-law for sending me a PTI gift certificate for my birthday! (It was spent within a day of receiving it ;) Jamie loves fall colors and the Asian feel, (and orange!!) so I think she'll love receiving this card. I used my new Harvest Berries stamp set that I got in the August release as the focal point. The green cardstock is PTI's Simply Chartruse, and I lined it and the kraft paper with the tea dye ink from PTI to help it stand out a bit more. The circle punches and corner punch is from SU. All other supplies listed above.

August PTI Blog Hop

It's blog hop time! This month was another photo inspiration challenge. Here is the photo that we were given to inspire our project:

This picture has a lot going on! But I immediately knew I wanted to focus on the jar, the girl's dress, the red of the suitcase, and the pattern on the inside. So here's what I created:

The ribbon represents the girl's blue gingham-looking dress. The contents in the jar represent the red of the suitcase in the picture.

The flowers are actually from the Friendship Jar fillers set, I just decided to cut them short and use them outside the jar :)

I chose this sentiment because I was actually giving the recipient of this card a jar of homemade peach salsa and homemade spiced peach jam to accompany it, so I thought the sentiment worked perfectly :)

I did not have the exact pattern, or ink color of the inside of the suitcase, but I thought that this half and half pattern matched pretty well, so I went with it. The blue strip also represents the girl's dress, the white strip the table cloth, and the green cardstock, the grass.

I'm really proud of how this card turned out, and the recipient loved it when she opened it :)

Everything on the card is from PTI except the clothespin which I purchased from a local stamp store. Hope you're enjoying your blog hoppin'!

JUGS #98 & CPS #232

Just Us Girls had a challenge to use these colors this week:

And here's CPS's weekly sketch:

I automatically thought, masculine card! So here's what I created:

A close up of the woodgrain background. This is a background stamp from SU.

Close up of the sentiment and deer both from PTI's Forrest Friends set that I got in my goodie bag at Stamp-A-Faire. The library clip is from SU.

The twine from my bag-o-twine from Suzanne :)

I don't make many manly cards, so it was kind of a nice change. These colors are definitely bold. I'm not sure I'd use them together again, but it was a good challenge. All cardstock is SU, and all other supplies were mentioned above. If you'd like to play along with this week's JUGS challenge, click here.

CAS #16

CAS-ual Friday's challenge this week was to emboss. Check it out here if you'd like to play along!

Can you tell I just got my PTI August release order today?? :)

I choose to do dry embossing with a Sizzix embossing folder on the half and half PTI die that I cut. The sentiment is from PTI's Sending You, the Sunflowers are from the brand new set. The cardstock and ribbon I just got in my order, all PTI. I stapled the ribbon on the side and popped up the centers of two of the sunflowers. This is another of my thank-yous for an awesome birthday :)

Card Patterns #129

Card Patterns offered up this lovely sketch this week:

And here's my card:

I used a bunch of my birthday PTI goodies on this card!

One of the reasons I asked for this Dress Form set and die is because I thought it would go great with those Tim Holtz mini hangers that I purchased awhile back...and I was right!

The pearls and the ticket are both from Memory Box. All the cardstock is PTI, and so is that great polka dot ribbon that was part of my birthday package from my parents :) And of course the dress form itself and the sentiment are from PTI...are you surprised?? ;)

The punch I used is one of those jumbo ones from EK Success. The button is from SU, and the twine is from the Twinery...thanks to Suzanne for giving me a huge sample of every single color they sell as part of my birthday extravaganza!!

Also, have you noticed how wonderful my blog looks? Everything about it, the adorable banner with the birds on the wire, the polka dot background, my signature with the bird, (did you even notice up in the search bar there is a bird, too?!) everything was designed by my "wicked" awesome friend Suzanne! She wasn't kidding when she said this year was going to be a birthday extravaganza. Thank you SOOO much, Suzanne, I'll never forget it!
