My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #262

I'm back again for the MFT weekly sketch challenge. I changed this one up a bit. Instead of using the 5 stripes all perfectly lined up, I decided to make them a little "wonky" in honor of all the new wonky dies that MFT keeps releasing :) I was inspired by a card that my friend Kara Vrabel made me for my birthday a few years ago where she did the strips all wonky like that, too. I used even more of my Christmas goodies. I have been having so much fun with them (thanks mom!).

This is actually the second card that I made, the first one I liked but decided to change a few things for the second, like the color of the soda bottle, and I popped up the sentiment. Which one do you like better?

MFT Sketch #264 Take 2

Here's my take 2 for this week's MFT sketch challenge. Can you tell that I just got a new shipment of MFT stamps?? I think they are my favorite company now, and the coolest thing is that they are headquartered in the town that I was born and raised, in Eustis, Florida! Our vacation this year is down to visit family in FL, so you better believe that MFT will be on the itinerary :)

The 12 Kits of Holidays July 2013

This month was hosted by the fabulous Christina! Oh I had so much fun working with this kit! The colors were gorgeous and the patterned papers so much fun. The theme this month was birthdays, and that is a good thing because I have no birthday cards...I always give them away right after I make them, which of course isn't helpful when I realize I need a birthday card in a pinch. So this will help to build my stash.

And now on to the cards that I made this month. (The first one is my favorite! :)

Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Drafts March 2013

Paper Smooches Sparks Designer Drafts March 2013

My sister's birthday is tomorrow, and the last time that she visited, we had fun going out to get "gourmet coffee" every afternoon. So I thought it would be fun to get her a Starbucks gift card and make a fun card to go along with it. I used these Paper Smooches sets: "Helping Hands," "Hot Concoctions," "Birthday Sampler," "Graffiti." I wanted to make the sentiment coffee themed and birthday at the same time, so I used the birthday sentiment, and made the go venti with the graffiti letter stamps. The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye, the cardstock from SU and PTI. The pearls are from Recollections. I used this week's Designer Drafts sketch from the Sparks challenge blog.

10 Minute Craft Dash #12

10 Min. Craft Dash #12

Hi everyone! I'm here to share my first ever card for the 10 Minute Craft Dash! And a bonus...there's a video with Suzanne, Jen, and I all completing the challenge at once!

I had never done this challenge before, but I had an idea in my head of what I wanted my card to look like. This was kind of what I had in mind, but I planned on having a 3rd banner in chocolate brown. I was inspired by the little banners that are used in the 10 Minute Craft Dash logo:

I knew I wanted to use the pig...why? Because this is a birthday card for Phillip's great aunt who loves pigs! (she even had one as a pet for years). And I also wanted to use my new banner dies and hot spot dies from Paper Smooches. Everything on this card is from them except for the cardstock and ink which are from PTI.

This challenge was a blast, but wow, it goes by fast! You'll see in the beginning I was going pretty slow, but good grief that time ticks away like nothing! I definitely want to give this challenge another try in the future. Hey maybe you'll even see another video, too ;)

P.S. It took me exactly all 10 minutes to create this card!

Lawnscaping Challenge #49

Lawnscaping #49

I got a bunch of new Lawn Fawn sets for Christmas, and I'm just now getting the chance to ink them up! I used two of them in this card. "Admit One" for the ticket and Ferris wheel, and "Critters Down Under" for the sentiment. It actually says "Hoppy Birthday" but I just added the stem to the o to make it an a ;) I knew right away that with this carnival set I had to use that fun October Afternoon paper. I also used a ticket border punch for the edge of the bottom of the front panel. This card turned out really bright, but fun :) I'm entering it into the Lawnscaping Challenge that ends tonight which was to make a birthday themed project in honor of their 2nd birthday. Happy Birthday, Lawn Fawn!

Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch January 2013

Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch January 2013

Hi everyone! Here with my PSS DT post for the Trend Watch Challenge. This month was Vintage. Looking at the phone dials, I knew I wanted to use a phone, and black, white, and red. The phone I used is from "Perpetual Bliss." The TV is from "Boob Tubes" and the sentiment is from "Sentiment Sampler." The heart is from "Needle Little Love." The paper is from Echo Park. I loved that that little heart was in the number paper which reminded me of the phones. The pearls and the washi tape are from Recollections, and the double ended banner die is from PTI. This card was for my husband's birthday which was on the 30th. Okay, time to go check out my fellow DT members' blogs!

CAS(E) this Sketch #2

I'm here to play along with the second CAS(E) this Sketch challenge! Here is the sketch we were given:

This card is also for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge, to create a card with an element that hangs over the edge (my banner).

I used Paper Smooches "Happy Camper," and "Sentiment Sampler." The patterned paper, die, and cardstock are all from PTI.

I want to say thank you SO much for the outpouring of congratulations comments and emails I have received about my new spot on the PSSparks DT! It really means so much, I can't stop smiling! I appreciate all of you so very much! I feel so loved :)

Lawnscaping Challenge #43: Texture

Lawnscaping Challenge #43: Texture

I decided to play along with the Lawnscaping challenge again this week, and I made a birthday card for my niece, Autumn, who is turning 1 this week!

This week's challenge was to use texture on your card. So I used my new SU houndstooth embossing folder on one of the strips, and then used some burlap from 7Gypsys. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches, the cute fall paper is from October Afternoon. The leaves are from Paper Smooches "Autumn Grooves." The double ended banner die and the cardstock is from PTI, and the ribbon is from SU. I think this card turned out really sweet :) Speaking of my niece, she's coming up here with my sister for a visit next week and I can't wait!

Paper Dolls Challenge #51

Hi everyone! It was my turn to host this month's challenge over at The Paper Dolls. It's my birth month, so I decided to make a birthday card challenge, with a twist...use birthday wrapping paper on your card! So here is my creation:

As you can see, I used my SU circle punch to cut out a couple of the cakes from the wrapping paper.

Paper Smooches front and center, of course :)

I colored the sweet dog with Copics. That is a PTI Mat Stack behind him, and PTI cardstock, and the PTI double ended banner die for the sentiment.

The little pearls on the cake are from Recollections. The Twine is from the Twinery.

PTI actually had a challenge for the blog hop last December to use left over wrapping from your Christmas gifts and I had fun doing it, so I thought it would be fun to repurpose this challenge into a birthday one. If it sounds fun to you, please join in and play along with the Paper Dolls, here!

Retro Sketches #22

The banana totally sold me on this Fruitastic set from Paper Smooches. See what I mean?

I used this week's Retro Sketches sketch:

The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye, the ribbon is from PTI, the corduroy button is from SU. The double ended banner die is PTI, and the twine is from the Twinery. I used the masking technique to create a bunch of bananas instead of just one.

I used the PS Alphadot set to create my own sentiment: "go bananas." The other sentiment is from Party Posse. I placed it on my block and curved it to fit the way I wanted on my card. I was working on my Copic shading, can you tell?

The border punch on the side is from Fiskars.

I had a blast looking through all the 12 Kits of Christmas cards yesterday, if you haven't had a chance to look, you should make some time, SO much inspiration!

Retro Sketches #21

I have a bunch of birthdays coming up in the month of August, including several men, so here is a masculine b-day card using this week's Retro Sketches sketch and of course Paper Smooches!

Here is the sketch that I used:

The tag is from PTI and so is the cardstock. The label die is from Nestabilities. The grid background is from Market Street Stamps.

The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye and the ribbon is from SU. The red twine is Martha Stewart.

The corduroy button is from SU.

Also, before I leave tonight, I wanted to let you know about some great blog candy that is being offered up by my friend Moriah's dog, Cad! Check it out here :)

Make It Monday #73

I can't tell you the last time I played in a Make It Monday...but this one was quite easy...and the Farm set still sitting on my desk needed some love. I created this card:

The challenge was to stamp on patterned paper. The yellow paper is from PTI. The other two patterned papers are from a My Mind's Eye paper pack. I stamped the animals and "100% homegrown" on the yellow and stamped the chicken wire on the gingham patterned paper (where it says "Herd It's Your Birthday!")

The twine is from Lawn Fawn.

I have a couple of birthdays this month, and this is a more masculine card, it may go to my Father in Law, or my Uncle. We'll see :)
