Make it Monday #17: Cracked Glass Technique

The Make It Monday this week was to do a cracked glass technique. Well, mine didn't turn out like the example...and this is my second try, too :( But its much better than the first. I think I just need more practice, and I probably should do a lighter background color, maybe white. The kraft just makes it look so dark. Anyway, this is the PTI anniversary set that I used, a Martha Stewart fence punch, and the papers Old Olive, and So Saffron, and the satin Old Olive ribbon from SU. I'm always excited to try new techniques...you may be seeing this one again sometime, too...especially since I have a huge jar of Ultra Thick embossing powder now!

cQc #86

I just got my PTI package from the May release today, so I took out my new goodies and got to work. Here is the card I created with the challenge colors:

I love the new seed packet front die and stamp set. I also used the daffodil from the year of flowers mini set.

The picket fence is the Martha Stewart punch...I couldn't justify getting the new PTI picket fence die since I already had this punch.

So I'll admit that I'm not loving this color combo. And with the gingham as the background, the red reminds me of Al's shirt from Home Improvement! But I'm still glad I gave it a try and got to use my new stamps and die, too. The ribbon is SU, paper is SU, all stamps PTI. I used Copics to color, and the tiny closepin with lady bug was a great find at work...during spring cleaning of the closets I found some, and knew it would be perfect for cards :) If you'd like to try this challenge yourself, click here

CPS #219

Here is the CPS card sketch this week:

And here is the card I created:

But I didn't stop there. I made it into a gift set! Here is the outside of the box:

And this is what's inside:

Some tea bags to go along with the tea themed gift:

And what the whole present started with, a hand knit coffee cup cozy that I made for my friend for Mother's Day (yes, its pretty late now! But I'm pretty sure she'll still be excited when she receives it today :) That is a reusable cup. And of course a tag to tie it into the theme:

This is how everything looks in the box, it fit just perfectly!

And to finish up another shot of the card and cozy:

I am in love with how this whole gift set turned out and I can't wait to see my friend's reaction today! The stamp set is from PTI, the "For You" sentiment is SU and so is the patterned paper, the top note die, and the label punch. The pink and green ribbon was given to me by my friend Suzanne, and the yellow ribbon is SU.

Card Patterns #116 & Color Throwdown #142

This is the card patterns sketch that I used:

And this is the color combination that I used:

And this is how my card turned out:

I like how the grey ribbon turned out looking like a tie, which goes along with the "rock" theme of the card. The patterned paper is from K & Company, the corduroy button is SU, and so is the label punch. The "you rock" sentiment is from PTI's Grunge Me set, and the images are from Stampology. Enjoy :)

PPA #94 & cQc #85

I like how light, airy, and clean this week's colors are at colorQ. If you'd like to try them out yourself, click here.

And here is the Pals Paper Arts sketch for this week. Click here to try it out yourself.

Pair them together, and you get this:

I didn't have any grey, so I was wondering what I'd do until I remembered that the Ann Taylor Loft bag's ribbon handles that I repurposed yesterday would work for my grey today, too! The silhouettes are from Hero Arts, the sentiment is from PTI's Grunge Me set. All papers are SU, in addition to all punches. It was a fun sketch and color challenge to try this week :)

Paper Dolls Challenge #37

I'm back! Sorry I've been MIA for awhile, but I have a pretty good excuse. See photos below...my new nephew Liam!

He was simply adorable. Check out that little knitted bear hat he's wearing, that was made by yours truly :) He is a month old now, I can't believe it! It was a quick trip down, just four days, but totally worth it!

Now onto some business. Here is my card that I created for Suzanne's challenge at the Papertrey Paperdolls blog. She challenged us to use patterned paper for the whole card except the base.

As you can see, I ran out of room for the "ks" so used "x" LOL. I figured that is the texting "thanx" so it will work too.

The flowers were given to me by my Big Sis in the Divine Secret Siblings group at Splitcoast Stampers. The button in the middle is from SU.

I wanted to try something new with the "bow" and have it come off the side and not be so traditional. The best part is that the ribbon is actually from an Ann Taylor Loft bag that my coworker gave me some clothes in the other day! The ribbon handles were so nice I just took them right off before throwing out the bag :)

This card was fun to make, thanks for the challenge, Suzanne! The stamps are from the PTI alphablocks set, the Old Olive Cardstock base from SU and all the patterned paper is from K & Company. Try this challenge out yourself, here.

Mother's Day Gift

Since my sister and I are taking my mom to a tea house, and since I just got the PTI tea pot set ;) I decided to make her a note card set with four note cards. So here they are:

First are individual photos of the 2 tall cards in the set:

The two long cards together:

Here is what it looks like all packaged up in a clear envelope with a matching tag:

Close up of the tag:

The two tall cards together:

The whole set:

More close ups of the individual cards:

I think this one is my favorite of the bunch:

I think she is going to be happily surprised :) This set was fun and easy to make. I used the pre made A Muse note cards as the backing. The gingham ribbon and papers are SU. The buttons I'm not sure, and of course the tea set is from PTI.

Make it Monday #12 & cQc #82

I really like the color challenge this week.
Click here to play along yourself.

The Make it Monday challenge was to use a hand drawn line frame.
And here is my design utilizing both:

All stamp sets are PTI, all papers, ribbon and pearls are SU. I am finally going down to meet my new nephew next week, and it happens to fall right before Mother's Day, so my sister and I decided to take our mom to a tea house as a surprise. I couldn't resist making little invitations ;) Don't worry, I already told my mom no peeking at this post! Check back tomorrow to see what I made her as a gift.
