Happily Ever Challenged #16

This challenge comes from Ted's blog, Happily Ever Crafter. It is his birthday month and he challenged us to make a birthday card with his favorite color combo, purple and green. And then to have 4 of something on the card, so I have four cupcakes. It was a fun challenge, and even better is the possibility of winning a $10 PTI gift certificate :) If you'd like to play along, click here. It was actually perfect that purple was one of the colors to be used, because this card is for my co-worker's birthday and purple is her favorite color! I used Stampin' Up's Rich Razzleberry and Pear Pizzaz for colors. The white is cut using a Nestabilities Die. The large scallop punch is Fiskars, and small scallop punch SU. The stamp set is also SU. I'm not sure where the rhinestones came from. Happy Birthday, Ted!

PTI April Blog Hop

This month's challenge was to create a masculine card. I know that my colors aren't as masculine as you would imagine, but I sent this card to a guy in Hawaii, so I think it turned out just right for the occasion ;)

I think this card turned out so bright and cheery! The papers used are from SU, and so is the ribbon and label and circle punches. The wave punch is Fiskars. The cloud paper is AMuse. The cloud paper was cut with the sending you PTI die. The plane and sentiment are also both PTI. I unfortunately made this card without the great new plane dies that were just released, but oh well, at least I only had to cut out one plane ;)

cQc #81 & Card Patterns #111

This week's Card Patterns Sketch:

And this week's Color Q Challenge:
(I am loving these knitted bunnies...I saw that a free pattern if offered, I may just have to try it!)
And both of them together =

For some reason, I had the worst time getting decent in focus pictures of this card, but I finally gave up and went with these, so hopefully you'll get the effect. In person it is so bright and cheery! Anyway, the papers are all SU in addition to the library clip, the punch and both ribbons. The music background stamp is PTI, the egg die is Nestabilities, and the peeps stamp is from G and Company (dollar bin). The sentiment is A Muse, and that gorgeous crocheted flower, yet another from the wonderful Christina. Those flowers have really come in handy! The peeps were colored with Copics and outlined as well to make them pop off the white. I am absolutely loving the color challenges each week at colorQ and you should definitely check it out and play along here. Make It Monday #11 & Color Throwdown #137

This week's Make It Monday challenge was to emboss with dies.
Here is this week's Color Throwdown:
Click here if you'd like to play along.

And my design:

If you look closely, you can see that I first embossed with the dies on the celery paper. Well, the numbers came out backward...duh! But I still used them ;) And then I put the cut numbers from the bottom sheet on top so that at least some were the right way.

Well, he finally arrived! I am an Aunt as of this morning to my first ever nephew, Liam Aaron. This card is to send to his parents, my brother and sister-in-law. The number dies, mat die, and sentiment are from PTI. The train punch is from Martha Stewart, the pearls AMuse, the corduroy button and papers are SU, and the little clothespin I found awhile back at my local stamp store.

More baby invites

After the first batch of invites taking me forever with all the details, I decided I needed something just as cute, but a bit less time consuming for the second batch. (The first are actually coming for lunch, the second are just coming for dessert). So these little guys are what I came up with. I used the adorable PTI Fly Away set. It didn't have the sentiment I wanted, so I ended up writing in the banner and on the tag at the bottom. The cloud paper is from AMuse. All papers are SU, and so are the punches and the corduroy buttons, in addition to the gingham ribbon. I think these invites turned out just as cute, and boy did they go faster! They'll all be in the mail tomorrow in plenty of time for the get together on May 7th, which for me is a huge accomplishment :)

CPS #213 & cQc #80

Above is this week's colors for the ColourQ Challenge and below is this week's sketch for the CPS challenge:

And here's my card combining both:

This card is for my nephew Liam...whose due date was yesterday! As soon as I find out that he has made his appearance, I'll be sending this off to him for his actual birth-day :) The image stamps are from Lizzie Anne, the sentiment is PTI. The ribbon and all papers are SU. It is hard to tell, but I used the Spica sparkle markers to color everything to make it seem more space like. I like this color combo, it is clean and fresh looking to me. If you want to play along on this week's ColorQ challenge, make sure to check them out here.

JUGS #79

And here is a close up of the baby wipe technique:

Here's yet another one of the absolutely gorgeous hand crocheted flowers made by my friend Christina (click on her name to check out her blog):

The inside:

The back:

This week Just Us Girls has a technique challenge and it was to use a baby wipe technique with re-inkers. Click here to check it out and try this challenge yourself. Well, I only had a few re-inkers, so I chose Pumpkin Pie and Perfect Plum from SU. I added the green patterned paper after and I think the whole effect turned out quite springy :) I have had these neat rhinestone raindrops for quite sometime now and just hadn't created the right thing to use them on, but I like that extra bling they give this card. The stamp is Darcies, the paper and ribbon are SU, the sentiments are all PTI (and so is the border in the inside). The grass punch is from Martha Stewart. This card was made for another of my stampin' friends, Suzanne, who has been going through a lot lately, and I just wanted to let her know that I care and am thinking about her.

Lunch with Liam

Here's what I've been working on lately, invites for "Lunch with Liam." This is my new nephew who we thought would make his grand entrance this past weekend, but he's just not quite ready yet. Thank goodness our Lunch with Liam party is not until May 7th! Anyway, it was fun making them, but I guess when I made the sample I didn't think of how many details are involved in each card, so that is what took so long, and why I haven't updated my blog since Friday ;) Anyway, the banners are the PTI set that I've been using a lot lately, and I also used the PTI ticket set (I don't have the dies for either the ticket or the banners, so I hand cut them all!) and everything else on the card is from Stampin' Up: punches, paper, ribbon, baby onsie, etc. I think the recipients are really going to like them :)

Card Patterns Sketch #109

Check out this gorgeous hand crocheted flower embellishment!!! This was made by my new friend Christina, and it is just so awesome :)

I have enjoyed trying things that aren't my style lately, and am happy to admit that I don't really consider myself as having a specific style anymore, but I will have to admit that this is definitely not it LOL! It was great to try a new sketch, and I love all the separate elements of this card, but together laid out like this I'm just not really feeling it. I have not really embraced the blank card, and I feel like the right side is just too busy and the left side too blank. Oh well, I'm still glad I tried it :) The absolute best part of the card is most definitely the hand made flower embellishment...thanks so much, Christina! The papers are all PTI and so is the cut out sentiment embellishment (from Color Couture). The ribbons are SU. Border punch is EK Success, and the scalloped oval is a Nestabilities die.

colorQ Challenge #79 & CPS #212

Here is the color line up of this week's colorQ challenge:

Here is the CPS sketch that I used:

And here is what I created with both challenges in mind:

The inside:

The back:

I absolutely LOVE how this color combo turned out! It is so clean and bold looking. I actually had all the right colors to use, so that was exciting. Also, I never make tall skinny cards, so it was fun to try something new. What was especially fun was using my new PTI Signature Greetings Set that just came in today! It is the set I chose from winning the PTI February blog hop and was a wonderful surprise to find it waiting for me on my porch when I came home from work today :) The other sets used were all PTI, Background Basics: Sheet Music, and the Banner Builder set. The papers were all SU, and so was the ribbon border punch and label punch on the back.

I found this great colorQ challenge through my new friend Christina who is one of the Design Team members at ColorQ, so make sure to go over to their website and check it out and maybe even play along :)
